Named after the Cayenne region of French Guiana, cayenne is a powerful, spicy herb used popularly throughout the world. Although acting as one of the main ingredients in pepper sprays for self-defense, this hot pepper has many therapeutic benefits. Heat comes from a phytochemical known as capsaicin, which is found in all parts of the pepper but the seed. Capsaicin binds to the vanilloid receptor, TRPV1, which is signaled by heat. Once the capsaicin molecule binds to the TRPV1 receptor, the brain receives signal of the "burning" occurring, and in turn promotes a mild inflammatory response, meant to help repair the affected cells. We receive this herb dry and activate the many beneficial properties within the plant through our extraction process. Our extraction process has been used consistently over the past two decades to produce only the highest quality therapeutic herbal extracts.

This extract is made using a modern version spagyric process. This is our modern version of an ancient extraction process, which results in a raw, living, whole-plant extract with all of the therapeutic constituents of the plant intact. We distill the herb in organic grape alcohol, keeping the temperature under 98º F. After distillation, we extract the mineral salts from the leftover plant material and add those minerals back into the final extract. The result is a highly absorbable, whole-plant extract.
